Salmon oil
Rich in omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) and omega-6 fatty acids, this supplement supports overall health, promotes a healthy immune system, and supports joint function. Additionally, salmon oil benefits the heart, stimulates appetite, and provides more energy.
Salmon oil vs linseed oil
Both salmon oil and flaxseed oil are rich in essential fatty acids. These are fatty acids that the body cannot produce on its own but are essential for proper functioning. The main difference between salmon oil and flaxseed oil lies in the types of omega-3 fatty acids. Flaxseed oil is particularly rich in one type of omega-3 fatty acid (ALA), while salmon oil also contains EPA and DHA in addition to ALA.
ALA is most commonly found in vegetable oils, while EPA and DHA are primarily found in animal oils. ALA fatty acids must first be converted into EPA and DHA by the body before they can be utilized. However, this process is quite inefficient, with conversion rates of only 5-10%. However, the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA from salmon oil can be utilized directly by the body, allowing the omega-3 fatty acids from salmon oil to be utilized much more efficiently.
